The 2017 MAI Doctoral Conference hosted by MAI ki Massey in Palmerston North, opened on Thursday 16 November and Co-Director Jacinta Ruru commented just how powerful and empowering this gathering of Māori and Indigenous doctoral students is; "This is such an important annual opportunity to bring together incredible postgraduate students from around the motu to spend time together supporting and inspiring one another”.

Māori Scholarship - 2017 Doctoral and Masters Opportunities

Five individual Whāia NPM Doctoral Excellence Scholarships are being offered this year by NPM.

These scholarships are valued at up to $28,000 per annum (+ course fees of $7000 per year) and are for Māori doctoral students to undertake study within one of NPM’s research themes. They are designed for candidates who have recently enrolled or are intending to enrol in a recognised doctoral programme of study and research within one of NPM's Partner Institutions.

2017-2018 Summer Internships Programme Open

Get paid to build your research skills and make a difference!

The popular NPM Summer Internship programme is open for submissions once again!

In recent years more than 50 students from across the country have been offered the opportunity to engage with senior academics on projects of national significance and gain real research experience, and money, by working over the summer months as research interns.

This internship programme is designed to provide experience and support for Māori students who are interested in pursuing research.

Tikanga Rangahau Wānanga Series - Auckland Workshop

Through its MAI Te Kupenga network, Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga and Te Kotahi Research Institute are currently providing a series of free wānanga and webinar events, which are hosted and organised through MAI ki Waikato.

New NPM Co-Director Appointed

Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Linda Waimarie Nikora (Te Aitanga a Hauiti, Ngāi Tūhoe) to the position of Co-Director of NPM, and Professor of Māori Studies based at Te Wānanga o Waipapa, University of Auckland.
