Māori Scholarship - 2017 Doctoral and Masters Opportunities
Five individual Whāia NPM Doctoral Excellence Scholarships are being offered this year by NPM.
These scholarships are valued at up to $28,000 per annum (+ course fees of $7000 per year) and are for Māori doctoral students to undertake study within one of NPM’s research themes. They are designed for candidates who have recently enrolled or are intending to enrol in a recognised doctoral programme of study and research within one of NPM's Partner Institutions.
Together with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori we are also offering our second round of the Tohu Puiaki Doctoral Completion Scholarships, which are designed to provide financial assistance and an incentive to doctoral candidates who are completing the final year of a doctoral degree.
There are three Tohu Puiaki scholarships available, of up to $20,500 over 12 months, to candidates who are completing their thesis in English on Māori Language Revitalisation or are writing their thesis in Te Reo Māori on any subject.
Finally - we are entering the third round of our successful Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori and Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga Kia Ita Masters Scholarships which are designed to support the advancement of Māori Language Revitalisation through building capacity and capability, opening up access to a knowledge base and increasing the number of Māori Masters graduates throughout New Zealand.
There are two Kia Ita Masters Scholarships available, valued at $10,000 over 12 months. As for the Tohu Puiaki scholarships, these Kia Ita opportunities are for Māori students who will be enrolled in a recognised Masters programme of study and research at a tertiary institution in New Zealand and are completing their thesis/dissertation in English on Māori Language Revitalisation or on any subject written in Te Reo Māori.
