MAI ki Tāmaki is hosted by Te Tumu Herenga | Libraries and Learning Services at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland, and is lead by Abigail McClutchie (MAI site coordinator) and Dr Te Kawehau Hoskins (academic head). MAI ki Tāmaki is a space for Māori, Mana Moana, and Indigenous Doctoral candidates located in Auckland who are looking to connect to a Kaupapa Māori professional network that supports postgraduate students on their Doctoral journey.

MAI ki Tāmaki Writing Retreats

We have a Writing Retreat booked at Vaughan Park in July 2023

Writing Retreat - HŌNGONGOI: 21-24 July 2023

All retreats are for three nights and kai is provided. There are limited spaces and priority is given to whanau who are closest to completion.

Applications are now open for our 2023 on campus MAI Day Writing Retreats.

All day space for writing and reading within a focused and supportive environment. Our schedule includes flexible options for taking breaks and guided movement and stretches to encourage our best work.

Starting at 9:00am for whanaungatanga and goal setting, then straight into it with breaks and full day kai. Finishing at 5:30pm with reflections and connections.

We are really pleased to present the open call for MAI Ora (wellbeing) and MAI Angitu (success) initiatives in 2023.

MAI Ora MAI Angitu is about expanding and bringing new experiences to our MAI ki Tāmaki whanau to support our wellbeing and success as we journey through our Doctoral experiences.

We are looking for initiatives that are engaging in the areas of academic success, research capability and leadership.

Successful applicants are responsible for coordinating and leading their initiative.

Māori Scholarship - 2017 Doctoral and Masters Opportunities

Five individual Whāia NPM Doctoral Excellence Scholarships are being offered this year by NPM.

These scholarships are valued at up to $28,000 per annum (+ course fees of $7000 per year) and are for Māori doctoral students to undertake study within one of NPM’s research themes. They are designed for candidates who have recently enrolled or are intending to enrol in a recognised doctoral programme of study and research within one of NPM's Partner Institutions.

2017-2018 Summer Internships Programme Open

Get paid to build your research skills and make a difference!

The popular NPM Summer Internship programme is open for submissions once again!

In recent years more than 50 students from across the country have been offered the opportunity to engage with senior academics on projects of national significance and gain real research experience, and money, by working over the summer months as research interns.

This internship programme is designed to provide experience and support for Māori students who are interested in pursuing research.

Tikanga Rangahau Wānanga Series - Auckland Workshop

Through its MAI Te Kupenga network, Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga and Te Kotahi Research Institute are currently providing a series of free wānanga and webinar events, which are hosted and organised through MAI ki Waikato.

New NPM Co-Director Appointed

Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Linda Waimarie Nikora (Te Aitanga a Hauiti, Ngāi Tūhoe) to the position of Co-Director of NPM, and Professor of Māori Studies based at Te Wānanga o Waipapa, University of Auckland.

Tikanga Rangahau National Wānanga and Webinar Series 2017

The Te Kotahi Research Institute is holding a series of events from July - October 2017, which have been sponsored by Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga.

The first of the Tikanga Rangahau National Wānanga Series will be held at Massey University in New Plymouth from Tuesday 15 August - Thursday 17 August.

The second of these research wānanga will be held at the University of Auckland from Wednesday 30 August - Thursday 31 August.
